May 2016

May was a busy month.  It was the month we started our basement remodel project (which has dragged on into July now--ugh.)

Merrody started working at the office with her Dad:

It was also the month when we held the annual WV Strawberry Festival in Buckhannon.  The kids loved the fair, and Matt was in charge of the Strawberry Mile run again.  Four of our kids ran it.  Joel came in 4th in his age range and 22nd overall with a 6:45 minute mile!  That's fast!

It was also the month when we wrapped up homeschool for a while.  Yes, after four years of homeschooling, we have decided to give public school another shot.  I am sad in a lot of ways, and so grateful for those four years of getting to be with the kids, but there are lessons to be learned in public school and I need to spend time doing other things.

We celebrated the end of the school year at Poky Dot's ice cream parlor in Fairmont, WV.  What a fun place!

We left the next day for our big trip to Idaho (but I'll put that in the next post.)
